Broken social scene – KC Accidental
Broken Social Scene is an indie rock group formed in 1999 in Toronto, Canada.
The band’s core members are Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning. This duo recorded and released the band’s ambient debut album Feel Good Lost, in 2001, with contributions from Ohad Benchetrit (also known as Years), Evan Cranley, Leslie Feist, Justin Peroff, Bill Priddle, and Charles Spearin. All of these musicians would emerge as key members of Broken Social Scene in future endeavors.

It must have been sometime between the years 1996 and 1997 when Oliver found out that there was more to discover than Green Day, The Offspring and Nirvana. Starting off with his first own cheapish Turntables and some commercial house tunes, he rapidly worked himself trough a lot of different electronic music styles. Having huge enthusiasm for vocal house in the first place, he more and more came over to techno and in those times the so called “Schranz”-sound which was mainly influenced by Artists like Chris Liebing, Cari Lekebusch and Adam Beyer.

Originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of ska and reggae music. They are from Kingston, Jamaica. Their sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock. Frederick “Toots” Hibbert, the leader of the group, was born in May Pen in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up singing gospel music in a church choir, but moved to Kingston in 1961 at the age of sixteen.

For the legendary Willie Dixon, the Big Three Trio was an important launching pad for a fantastic career. Pianist Leonard “Baby Doo” Caston and guitarist Bernardo Dennis (replaced after a year by Ollie Crawford) joined upright bassist Dixon to form the popular trio in 1946. Caston was just out of the service (where he’d played on U.S.O. tours during World War II); Dixon had been a conscientious objector. Dixon had previously worked with Caston in the Five Breezes and with Dennis in the Four Jumps of Jive.

Erratic punk parodists The Bollock Brothers have been led over the years by erstwhile singer Jock McDonald, their output ranging from inspired silliness to lame stupidity. The group debuted in 1983 with a double novelty album called The Last Supper; Horror Movies was thier biggest hit, later in the year, they released one of their more infamous projects, a total re-recording of the sole Sex Pistols album, this time titled Never Mind the Bollocks 1983, complete with synthesizer arrangements and a few altered lyrics.

João Donato de Oliveira Neto was born on 1934 in Brazil, the son of a military father. Still a teenager, he demonstrated more musical than scholastic ability and so left school in 1949. He lived with fellow musicians, played guitar in the bars of Rio de Janeiro and, of course, talked about music. In the 1950s he visited the Sinatra-Farney Fan Clube, considered by many specialists as the school that created the Bossa Nova.

Because his mother’s career required constant relocation, the family moved frequently and the soon-to-be rapper found solace within himself. Prior to that, both had performed as solo artists at open mic nights but utilised the other as a backing partner. Ultimately they came up with the same idea, “Why don’t we play together? It kind of made a lot of sense”. In terms of composing the material, they write on their own, then work together on structure and harmonies.
